Hope for the future of education

After teaching 15 years in the public schools systems, I have seen many changes come and go. This year has been particularly hard as furlough days increase and class sizes rise. However, I have been inspired by the young men and women I have talked to that still are choosing to make teaching their career. They are aware of how hard starting a career in this field will be over the next few years, but they still want to teach. These young people are exactly what we need in education today, and it gives me hope for the future of education in America.

This post is part of the MAT@USC Hope for the holidays event. Did you have an experience or witness something in 2009 that gave you hope for the future of American education? If so, please see this post for information on how to share it.
